Walking???
Athen will be walking by Thanksgiving, is my guess. He took his first two steps tonight at barely 8 months old. Where did my baby go!! He is still wobbly, but that figures because he is still small. Man alive this little boy surprises me everyday. I'm positive he is determined to be a "Big Kid Now"! Hey maybe this means he will potty trail early and really well (I can hope right). In a way I'm thinking "does Heavenly Father want me to have another baby soon, is that why Athen is growing up so fast?" but my other thought is; "Heavenly Father must want me to slow my life down and wait a little while for our next bundle of joy. Could be an explanation to why he sent me this wonderful handful of a child first" Ü Anyway, maybe we should take a poll of when everyone thinks he will be walking completely, any guess????

Cruisin'...
Our very good friend Kate and James Sautter let us borrow a toy for Athen that helps him walk. Most of you know he is a busy boy and wants to walk very bad. So Saturday we brought home this toy and now Athen is crussing around like a pro... until he runs into a wall... I can't believe how fast he is growing up. We are positive he will be walking by Christmas at 10 months old if not sooner.

8 months old...
Athen turned 8 months old today and is becoming more active everyday.
He started crawling the day he turned 7 months old and now he is a pro at crawling, he is all over the place. He has also become a pro at pulling himself up, taking everything off shelves, tearing apart the diaper bag, magazines, books. He is a busy busy boy. He sure keeps me going. However, as much as he is excelling in those areas, he isn't getting any teeth or getting close to saying mama or dada. We'll keep working on it. He is however a very smart boy. He know how to work me just right to get what he wants. I've learned that if you baby him once he will know how to get you to do it again.

Oh well he is my first and I love him, he is adorable and a joy to our lives. Isn't he handsome!

Pumpkin Fun...
Who knew buying a pumpkin for an 8 month old could be so fun... Saturday we headed out to the Country Mercantile, it was great! They had pumpkins, food, and much more...
We enjoyed a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch...
The childrens hay bail maze was actually pretty good.. Althought, Athen was more interested in eating the hay.

This pony actually bit a girl...

This picture was not posed. This is Athen all the way
The finished project! This pumpkin rocks! Great skills Tim.

Counting down...
I mentioned once before that I love countdowns. I think I find the anticipation of something almost just as exciting as the actually event. I guess I would rather look forward to something then have it over. Well in some cases (I would rather have the house done and the police academy done) Right now I have a couple of countdowns in my life and just thought I would share the progress....
14 days until Halloween
20 days until we close on our house
41 days until Thanksgiving
55 days until Tim's police academy graduation

This was Athen's reaction when I informed him of the countdown...

Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face...
Just want to spread the word that the newest book by poet Jack Prelustky is out... Okay, I could care less about the author, it is the illustrator that really interests me.. Brandon Dorman is a phenomenal artist... Okay, I have to admit I'm a little bias he just happens to be my brother. But besides that he is great and everyone should really check out his books...
Some other books that came out recently, The Wizard, In The Garden, and Halloween Nights... Check out more at brandondorman.com

Funny Face...

Athen has learned to anticipate the flash on the camera... I must take too many pictures, because he knows that he needs to make some sort of face when we take pictures of him.
